• Children with a high instep, where a standard tab pulls tight across the top of the foot
• Children with a full or wide foot
• Anyone in shoe sizes 3.5 to 4.5, where XL is the standard fit

How to tell you need them

If the tab is at its loosest setting and still marking the top of the foot, or you've been sizing the shoe up to get it closed and the heel now slips, go up a tab size rather than a shoe size. The length stays right and the fit gets better.
